Unfortunately it remains a sad habit-a game AAA with PC problems.
Hogwarts Legacy suffers from terrible performance problems in computer versions.
It is difficult to identify all the reasons for sure, but questionable adjustments by developers, lack of testing and optimization, and the presence of infamous antipirate software are the main suspects.
Fortunately, by definition, the PC game community is full of experts who have found methods to improve game performance, whatever their configuration.
We cannot guarantee that each manipulation listed will give you noticeable performance gains, but they have been effective for many players.
For starters, we advise you to close the game and restart it as soon as you get to Hogwarts, this tends to improve performance.
Hogwarts Legacy and Nvidia
The first step, if you haven’t done it yet, is to update your video card drivers.
You will probably need to update them again soon, when the manufacturer launches the optimized drivers for Hogwarts Legacy.
The second step is to go to the Hogwarts Legacy graphics options and disable vertical synchronization (V-SYNC).
Then open the Nvidia control panel on Windows, G-Sync configuration and enable G-Sync with the display mode used for Hogwarts Legacy.
By the way, playing on a full screen instead of a frameless window can help.
Still in the NVIDIA control panel, select 3D settings, then manage 3D settings, then on the tab to the right program settings.
Choose Hogwarts Legacy as the software to be personalized.
Scroll the list down and select the low latency mode line.
Change to ultra.
DLSS
It seems that the Nvidia DLSS drivers present in the game are quite old, which has a negative impact on performance.
Updating them manually would have generated significant performance gains for many players.
User Klånylol2.0 offers explanations for this in Steam.
You can update them manually, hoping that developers will do so in a future patch.
Otherwise, you may have to manipulate after each game update.
DSS SWAPPED
You can handle it in two ways, the first is to use DLSS Swapped, dedicated software that allows you to easily update this element in your games.
You can download it here: https://github.com/beeradmoore/dlss-swapper
Close the game if you haven’t done it yet.
So all you need to do is look for Hogwarts Legacy on the program Games tab and choose the latest version of DLSS: 2.5.1.0 at the moment.
Save and restart the game.
manually
The alternative is to manually download the latest DLSS at https://www.techpowerup.com/download/nvidia-dlss-dll/
Then use the new file to replace the present at this address on your PC: Steam apps \ Common \ Hogwarts Legacy \ Engine \ Plugins \ Runtime \ NVIDIA \ DSS \ binaries \ third party \ win64
You can easily locate the game folder via Steam, with a right click and search for local files.
